Last night, at the Event Center of the Quiet Cannon Golf & Country Club in Montebello. CA., eight 4-rounder bouts highlighted Ed Holmes' presentation of "Battle of the Rising Stars" before a loud and sell out crowd.
In the first bout, Super Bantamweights Damon Simon and Alexander Enriquez fought to a technical draw after the latter suffered a nasty cut caused by an accidental head but. Alexander Enriquez was well on the way to claiming the round until the stoppage.
The second bout saw David Thomas pulling out a majority decision win over Vincente Guzman in a give and take Welterweight clash. The scores were 38-38 and 39-37 twice.
In a very competitive third bout, house fighter Jonathan Torres won a unanimous decision over Victor Torres in their Junior Bantamweight clash.
In the fourth bout, debuting Welterweight John White stopped Hartoutyn Vardanyan in the 3rd round. After knocking down Vardanyan in the 2nd round, John White stepped up the onslaught in the next round forcing Referee Zach Young to save Vardanyan from further punishment.
In the fifth fight of the evening, Welterweight Adolfo Chavez proved too strong and skillful against Paul Huguez, who capitulated in the 3rd round.
Rising Lightweight Francisco Ochoa preserved his unbeaten record with a TKO victory over John Black in the 2nd round, for the sixth bout of the evening.
In the penultimate bout, Kevin Hernandez scored an upset majority decision over Eddie de la Huerta in their Junior Welterweight contest. Scores were 38-38, 39-37 and 40-36. The loss sullied Eddie de la Huerta's otherwise unblemished record to 5-1.
And, in the main event, Lightweight Jarret Jeter completely schooled Denis Madriz, scoring a shutout 40-36 shellacking across the board.
The rousing success of the evening's presentation by Ed Holmes' promotional outfit, United Boxing Academy, has been sanctioned by the California State Athletic Commission.
