LOS BANOS, Laguna ? Senatorial aspirant Manny Pacquiao pooh-poohed the claim of P-Noy that he is one of the targets for kidnapping of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG).

In his statement, Pacquiao said ?Kung ito nga ay totoo at base sa verified intelligence report, ang tanong ko ? bakit ngayon lang isinapubliko??

Pacquiao claimed he was surprised by P-Noy?s pronouncement as he has not yet received any intelligence report from the military or police confirming that he is being targeted by the notorious bandit group.

?Nagulat po ang inyong abang lingkod sa ibinunyag ng ating Pangulong Aquino na isa ako sa mga target na dukutin ng Abu Sayyaf Group.?

Pacquiao added that it should have been more appropriate if the President informed him in advance and in private.

?Hindi na kailangan pang ibunyag sa publiko upang maiwasang mabigyan ng kulay pulitika,? Pacquiao said.

Pacquiao believes P-Noy?s statement was just intended to save face or to divert issues hurled against his administration.

P-Noy administration has been under fire for allowing the use of a presidential chopper by his younger sister Kris Aquino while campaigning and for having failed to do something to stop the beheading of one of Abu Sayyaf?s kidnap victims.

According to Pacquiao, Moro people are close to his heart and he doesn?t believe ASG are plotting to harm him or any member of his family.

?Marami tayong malapit na kaibigan sa hanay ng militar at hanggang sa mga oras na ito ay wala tayong natatanggap na ganung intelligence report,? Pacquiao said.

He revealed, however, that he had already taken appropriate security precautions to ensure his safety and security and those of his loved ones.

Above all, he said, he has a strong faith in Almighty God and ?He will always protect and keep me and my family away from harm.?

The world boxing icon took Laguna by storm Thursday when he went there to campaign together with United National Alliance (UNA) presidential bet Vice President Jejomar Binay.

People lined up the streets and chanted ?Manny! Manny! Manny!? as the float carrying Pacman, Binay and Laguna gubernatorial candidate ER Ejercito was approaching.

Ejercito vowed to make Pacquiao a number one senator in Laguna.
