CEBU CITY--Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao may have missed what would have been the first official press conference for his mammoth rematch with Marco Antonio Barrera, but the iconic boxing hero has indicated he will be in tip-top shape when he trades leathers with the Mexican boxing idol.

Yesterday, Pacquiao was in Cebu to honor a commitment to pay a visit to his good friend and fight promoter Rex 'Wakee' Salud, who is building a multi-million peso boxing gym which is at par with the world's best.

Pacquiao was accompanied in Cebu by lawyer Franklin Gacal and his Filipino trainer Buboy Fernandez, who also said that the Filipino ring idol has kept himself in shape by playing basketball and working out.

Pacquiao, in an interview, also told this writer that he will be leaving for the United States on July 30 as he takes part in the promotional blitz for his upcoming fight with Barrera, and should start working out immediately after arriving in Los Angeles.

"Ang ganda mag train dito. Gustong-gusto ko," Pacquiao said in describing Salud's new, state-of-the-art gym.

Pacquiao and Barrera are set to do an encore on October 6 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
