Filipino challenger Czar Amonsot of the ALA Boxing Gym and reigning champion Michael Katsidis of Australia have both arrived at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
Katsidis and Amonsot battle it out for the WBA interim lightweight title in a 12-round war underneath the Bernard Hopkins-Winky Wright superbout, which will be telecast in the Philippines on Sunday by ABS-CBN.
Amonsot and trainer Edito Villamor arrived at the Mandalay Bay last night, while Katsidis and his team arrived this afternoon.
Amonsot, who is staying in a room at the sixth level of the Mandalay Bay, was also visibly elated by the arrival of his manager Michael Aldeguer in Las Vegas, who was accompanied by top Filipino promoter Sammy Gello-ani.
This morning, Amonsot did a light run for 35 minutes. He then worked out at the Vegas Boxing gym with no less than Tagbilaran City Mayor Dan Neri Lim closely monitoring his workout.
The workout consisted of 10 mins on the skipping rope, 4 rounds of shadow-boxing, three rounds of mitt work, and light abdominal exercises for what trainer Villamor described as 'maintenance training.'
And here's the good news from trainer Edito Villamor: Czar Amonsot now weighs 136 lbs, just a pound over the lightweight limit. Scary...
The duo was then invited to the residence of cutman Tony Martin in a gated community away from the Strip where they had dinner.
