Juan Martin Elorde, grandson of the late great Gabriel 'Flash' Elorde, is set to return to ring action on July 28 against Rommel Descalsote at the family-owned Elorde Sports Center in Sucat, Paranaque.

This was bared yesterday by the young boxer's mother Liza Elorde, whose husband Johnny is a son of the boxing great.

"Bai will be seeing action at the sports center. In fact, he already has a new mouthguard made no less by Dr. Ed De la Vega," informed Liza Elorde.

De la Vega, who also makes the mouthguards of superstar Manny Pacquiao, Rey 'Boom Boom' Bautista, Z Gorres and other top Pinoy fighters, also made one for Bai's brother, Nico who is a bantamweight and a basketball player.

"I may be back really soon to supervise the making of mouthguards for the Philippine athletes (those involved in contact sports like boxing, taekwondo and basketball) going to the SEAG and Olympic Games. All I am waiting for is the final go ahead from Butch Ramirez the chairman of the PSC," informed De la Vega today, as he is currently vacationing in Adelaide, Australia after covering a recent boxing event in Cebu.

Nicknamed 'Bai,' Elorde turned pro last February 24 in Cebu City, easily decisioning Joseph Mateo over four rounds. It was also in Cebu where his famous grandfather started out in humble beginnings to rise and become one of the greatest, if not the greatest, Asian boxer of all times.

On March 23 this year, the young Elorde again saw action, this time taking on Leo Albao for his second career victory.

Descalsote is a protege of the Emil Romano Stable.
