JAKARTA--In a classic, Filipino Florante 'The Little Pacquiao' Condes showed tremendous power and fighting heart, knocking down Muhammad Rachman twice en route to winning the IBF 105-lb crown with a split decision verdict moments ago here.
Condes showed who's boss early, knocking down Rachman with a big left in the third, and then had the defending champion kissing the canvas again in the tenth with a good right to seal the win.
Judges Salven Lagumbay and Montol Suriyachand both scored 114-112 for Condes, while Muhammad Rois saw it 117-113 in favor of Rachman, to the chagrin of Team Condes.
Condes swept the first two rounds, using good head movement and choking body attack against Rachman.
"Alam ko di nya makayanan yung suntok ko pag tinamaan sya. Pero magaling din talaga si Rachman. Nahirapan din po ako," (I knew he could not cope with my power. But he showed he was really good. I also had a difficult time), confided Condes.
Rachman was cut by a legit shot in the tenth over his right eye, before kissing the canvas for the second time.
More to come...
