FLOYD Mayweather Jr. scored an off-ring sizzler when he bought a diamond-studded million-dollar wristwatch in Dubai earlier in the week.

On the same day TMZ Sports came out with the sensational item, philboxing.com reported that Manny Pacquiao has given away 150 housing units to needy constituents in Sarangani.

Call it coincidence, but pundits have started to smell something very interesting behind the latest developments involving the elite boxing rivals.

**

Reported TMZ: ?Floyd Mayweather Jr. has done it again, buying another milllion dollar watch. The boxer has been on a crazy spending spree the past few weeks. We?re told the watch is a Hublot worth $1.1 million, part of his big purchases.?

From General Santos City, Aquilles Zonio said Pacquiao has given away 150 housing units in a barangay at the Maasim District of Sarangani, adding that a total of 300 units will be distributed within the year. It?s part of a welfare housing project worth P28 million. A total of 600 units will be built in the area purchased by Pacquiao with his own money. The sum mentioned did not include the cost of the four-hectare area housing site.

Regarding Mayweather, he said he has not been to the United Arab Emirates for sometime, and decided to drop by Dubai with a 24-strong entourage.

The retired American boxing superstar also mentioned something about ?enjoying the Royal Treatment.?

The Mayweather visit happened around the same time time rumblings about his rematch against Pacquiao resurfaced.

**

Maloney Samaco of philboxing.com said there were reports of oil money ($ 200 million for Mayweather, $100 million for Pacquiao) being dangled to stage the rematch.

The reports could not be confirmed.

From the Mayweather camp, chief executive officer Leonard Ellerbe tweeted: ?Floyd Mayweather Jr. is RETIRED, end of discussion.?

**

At the same time though, the continued refusal by Pacquiao to name his next foe has resulted in speculations the eight-division world boxing title winner could be up to something else.
Writer Samaco also noted what Pacquiao had posted in his Facebook account on Oct. 27 that they were negotiating a rematch with Mayweather.

Did Mayweather fly all the way to Dubai only to pick up a diamond-studded watch?

Only the oil sheiks could give the answer.
