ALA Boy Czar Amonsot, now training at the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles, has sparred with American David Rodela who is a constant sparmate of superstar Manny Pacquiao while the other Filipino fighters seeing action on the August 11 'World Cup' of boxing have also started training at Freddie Roach's sweatshop.

Amonsot will challenge undefeated WBO interim lightweight champion Michael Katsidis on July 21 underneath the Bernard Hopkins-Winky Wright superbout at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

Amonsot sparred for three rounds yesterday against welterweight Rodela, and then another three rounds with Speedy Gonzales at the Wild Card.

"Sparring had been ok, he moved quite well today. It was good work," said ALA gym chief trainer Edito Villamor.

Amonsot runs uphill at the Griffith Park in the morning during non-sparring days, and runs on flat terrain on days when he has to spar.

"We have already fixed his medical requirements like physical examination, blood test, and eye exam," added Villamor.

Meanwhile, the group led by Boholano boxing sensation Rey 'Boom Boom' Bautista arrived last Sunday in Los Angeles accompanied by assistant trainer Jeremiah Quijano.

Bautista was joined by Z 'The Dream' Gorres, Bert Batawang and AJ 'Bazooka' Banal in the trip. Former WBC champion Gerry Penalosa flew last night to Los Angeles, while another fighter, Michael Domingo, is slated to follow on July 8 with another ALA trainer Edmund Villamor.

"We had our first day at training today, and the boys met Freddie Roach," informed Villamor.

The 'World Cup' of boxing, which will pit Filipinos against Mexican fighters at the Arco Arena on August 11, will be headlined by Bautista challenging WBO superbantam champ Daniel Ponce De Leon of Mexico.

Penalosa will also challenge WBO bantam champion Jhonny Gonzales in another anticipated showdown.

Gorres and Batawang will also see action against Gerson Guerrero and Francisco Rosas, respectively, in IBF title eliminators set for 12 rounds each.

The unbeaten Banal will take on former WBC light flyweight champion Eric Ortiz, while Domingo takes on Miguel Roman in an 8-round tussle.
