RACHMAN-CONDES SET FOR JULY 7!

According to promoter Fandy Sugiarto, the Muhammad Rachman-Florante Condes IBF minimumweight title duel will now happen on July 7, after organizers asked for postponement of the original June 16 playdate following promoter Albert Reinhard Papilaya's failure to deposit the monies for the boxers involved.

Sugiarto will now team up with Jakarta's Tourino Tidar to put up the event. Tidar sent a letter to the IBF last week and vowed to send all the fees relative to the event as soon as the details are forwarded to his office.

"The confirmed date is on 07 July 2007. The ring officials shall arrive in Jakarta on 05 July 2007," Sugiarto this writer.

Both Rachman and Condes camps have expressed disappointment over the promoter's failure to keep the agreed June 16 playdate.

Rachman's manager Martines Dos Santos, who recently attended the IBF Convention in Miami, said his ward has been preparing hard for the fight, although Indo Pos had earlier indicated that the reigning champion could not get the kind of quality sparring he needed after the promoter failed to deliver on his promises.

Condes, meanwhile, has been religiously training in Manila, and was reportedly sparring against tough boxers, according to his manager Aljoe Jaro.

Condes' co-manager Dante Ortiz also sounded disappointed over this latest postponement, although he remained hopeful the fight will finally push through.

Ortiz, who is still over the moon following the conquest of his compatriot Miguel Cotto over Zab Judah, will fly to Jakarta along with former WBA junior welter king Morris East, promoter Bobby Bostick, lawyer Cesar Trevino, and other associates from Las Vegas.
