CEBU CITY, Philippines -- Finally, a homecoming fight for Bacolod and Negrense prides, World Boxing Organization (WBO) junior flyweight champion Donnie ?Ahas? Nietes (36-1-4, 21 KOs) and undefeated WBO Inter-Continental super bantamweight champion Genesis ?Azukal? Servania (26-0, 11 KOs), will be realized this November.
This was disclosed by ALA Promotions International President/CEO Michael Aldeguer on Saturday adding that it?s already in their plan to stage the Asia?s No.1 professional boxing event in Bacolod.
?I?ll be meeting Mayor Monico Puentevella when I return from the U.S.,? Aldeguer said. ?We will also try to see the status of Donnie?s injury. But, the Bacolod fight is already in our plan,? he added.
Aldeguer also mentioned that they will be looking at several venues in Bacolod where to put the event.
Bacolod last hosted ALA?s Pinoy Pride twice in 2011 when Nietes defended his WBO minimumweight title against Mexican challenger Ramon Hirales-Garcia in November while stopped Armando Vasquez, also from Mexico, in the first round of his tune-up match early April. All were staged at the University of St. La Salle.
The 23-year-old Servania, who hailed from Bgy. Pta. Taytay in Bacolod City, also has his last fight at home in April 2011 when he knocked out Prell Tupaz at the 888 Chinatown Square Mall.
Servania has successfully defended his WBO Inter-Continental super bantamweight thrice after clinching the title two years ago when knocked Rafael Concepcion in the second round.
Early February this year, Servania kept his belt after beating Juan Luis Hernandez via unanimous decision in Davao while, stopped Jose Cabrera in the 10th round of the scheduled 12-round clash in September last year, and a 12th round TKO victory over Alexander Munoz in March, 2014.(WATCHMEN DAILY JOURNAL)
