PACQUIAO-MARQUEZ NEGOTIATION ORDERED, DEADLINE SET JUNE 18

The World Boxing Council has just ordered that the free negotiation should now start between the camps of WBC super featherweight title-holder Juan Manuel Marquez and mandatory challenger Manny Pacquiao.

The Mexico-based sanctioning body has set the deadline for the free negotiations until June 18th, and should an agreement is not made on or before that date, a purse bid will then take place at the WBC Headquarters in Mexico City.

However, with the current icy relations between Marquez promoter Golden Boy Promotions and Pacquiao's Top Rank, it is most likely that no negotiation will be reached, and a fight between the two most talented fighters in the 130-lb class will most likely not happen soon as both have expressed different choice of opponents for their next bouts.

Pacquiao is still recovering from a devastating knockout defeat at the polls inflicted by the 90-lb Darlene Antonino-Custodio, and it is yet to be known what his next plans will be, although his promoter Bob Arum had hinted that his next fight should take place on October 6 against any of the top superfeatherweights not named Juan Manuel Marquez.
