TEAM PACQUIAO HAS A PLAN TO COUNTER EVERYTHING THAT MAYWEATHER BRINGS TO TABLE

LOS ANGELES, Cal. ? For assistant trainer Nonoy Neri, his boss, World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao will without doubt, emerge the winner in his historic super-fight showdown with World Boxing Council/World Boxing Association counterpart Floyd Mayweather Jr. this coming May 2 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

And Neri, who doubles up as the eight division-titlist?s dietician, nutritionist and cook, all rolled into one, has many reasons for believing so.

?Manny, you see, is times two compared to the Manny the boxing world used to know,? Neri told a pair of Manila-based journalists who visited him in his Park Plaza Lodge and Hotel here Wednesday.

Neri explained. ?Doble ang conditioning routine ni Manny ngayon. Doble ang roadwork at doble ang gym activities, including the all-important sparring niya.?

?The result is, there is this tendency for him to peak early. So, what we are doing now is inaalalayan namin siya by reducing the frequency in all aspects of his training program, ? he said.

Neri explained.

Mayweather, Neri said, is a very intelligent boxer. ?That?s a given. Kaya napakarami naming option in order to offset all the advantages that he possess.

Not only that, Manny never review the tape of his rivals in his previous fights, according to Neri. But in this fight, he has been regularly watching almost all the 47 fights of the undefeated American.

Neri added that the fifth reason why he believes the eight-division champion will win is Pacquiao himself, chief trainer Freddie Roach, conditioning coach Justin Fortune and the other assistant trainers Buboy Fernandez, Roger ?Haplas? Fernandez and Marvin Somodio have devised several game plans, which the three-time Fighter of the Year can choose from when the need arises.

?The pleasant climate prevailing in Los Angeles since we started our camp here helps in inducing to train as he has been training, which as I said, twice as much compared to what we had been doing in the past,? Neri disclosed.

?As of this present time, a little three weeks more in our preparation, I can say that Manny is handing-handa nang lumaban,? he observed.

Neri assessed. ?He is likened to a well-oiled machine sa tingin ko lang,? he said.

The father of four with wife, Sarangani Vice Gov. Jinkee, still lacks timing in his offensive arsenal, which according to Neri can be addressed in the remaining sparring sessions.

Pacquiao, Neri revealed, has already logged from 60 to 65 rounds in sparring, three weeks since this phased of his buildup program begun.

?He?s on track to our target 120 rounds of sparring which we aim to reach before we drive to Las Vegas, one week before the actual fight,? he related.
