EVERYTHING GOING WELL IN TRAINING CAMP

LOS ANGELES, Cal. ? ?No, they?re not true.?

Assistant trainer and Manny Pacquiao?s boyhood friend Buboy Fernandez exclaimed in denying reports that troubles exist in the World Boxing Organization welterweight champion?s training camp.

?Truth is and I?m not bragging, sa situwasyon ngayon ni Manny after a month here, kayang patulugin ni Manny si (Floyd) Mayweather,? Buboy said in reference to the World Boxing Council/World Boxing Association 147-pound king, who Pacquiao is battling May 2 in Las Vegas.

Manny, with still 30 more days in the camp, according to Buboy, is already very sharp, moving smartly, throwing power punches as he used to and moving quickly as he should be on fight day.

?As I told you last week, napakatalas ni Manny ngayon. Napakabagsik at talagang grabe ang determinasyon na mag-train at manalo. Hindi niya ipatataklo ang labang ito, ? Buboy said.

?You have to believe us, Freddie (chief trainer Freddie Roach), Justin (conditioning coach Justin Fortune and us, their assistants himself, Nonoy Neri, Roger ?Haplas? Fernandez and Marvin Somodio because it us who are on the road and in the gym everyday overseeing Manny trains,"" Buboy said.

?I don?t know who orders the camp closed to everyone, including the media, but this I?ll tell you, Manny might not be in great shape, now at least, but he will be in due time,? the heavy-built Buboy, who grew up with the Pacman at the Barangay Labangal, known as the Tondo in hometown General Santos City, assured.

?Reports you?ve been reading and hearing are all speculations, kasi nga closed door ang training pareho namin at ni (Floyd) Mayweather, pero kung mapapanood ninyo sa aktuwal, magugulat kayo,? he said.

?Yung leg cramps na sinasabi, it has been addressed last week pa,? he said. ?Yung masamang sparring being attributed to coach Freddie, those were not true.

?Tomorrow is sparring day and Freddie has a plan to increase the frequency from eight rounds as of last Saturday to 10 or baka 12 pa nga because start na ng second month natin dito sa L.A.,? he remarked.

?Eh kung hindi happy si coach sa sparring bakit pa niya dinagdagan ang load??

Buboy disclosed that Monday?s session at Wild Card went very good with Pacquiao, doing the mitts with Roach for 12 rounds, two rounds more than Saturday?s 10.

For the first time in two weeks, the eight-division titleholder went to the heavy bag which he pummeled for a round besides spending two rounds each in the double end and speed balls.

?In addition to tomorrow?s sparring, Freddie added several more rounds with the mitts as requested by many himself,? he said. ?Paano mo sasabihing may injury or may naramdamang ibang sakit si Manny? He is even asking or more loads.?

Even the agility test conducted by Fortune at the University of California-Los Angeles Monday morning went very well ?with many not bothered at all by the reported cramps."

A person suffering from cramps cannot, in all probability, box for 12 rounds kahit na sabihing sa mitts lamang or even in actual sparring,? he reasoned out. ?Yung mga nagsasabing may ganito, may ganoon si Manny, hindi nakakaintindi ng boksing yun.?

?Even gym assistants Rob Peters and Rey Lopez attested to Pacquiao?s sharpness and aggressiveness.

?I don?t enter the training chamber as often but I can tell you, Manny is very strong and quick throwing his combination lets and rights,? Peters said drawing concurrence from Lopez.
