LOS ANGELES ? Floyd Mayweather Jr. may do whatever he wants when he and Manny Pacquiao face off on May 2 in the biggest fight their career but it would be the least of the Filipino camp?s worries.

?We will leave no stone unturned. We will be covering all the bases, in short,? said assistant trainer Buboy Fernandez on what adjustments the eight-division champion will implement on the different moves they perceive Mayweather will do in the 12-round welterweight unification bout set in Las Vegas.

?If you have probably noticed, we are utilizing different guys each day of sparring sessions since we started this phase of our preparations,? Fernandez explained. ?Each style of sparring partners represents the various styles of Floyd?s in order for Manny to adapt to such styles.?

?Last Tuesday, we used a set of two dance partners. Today, we set another set and on Saturday, another set and so on and so forth,? the heavy-built childhood buddy of the reigning World Boxing Organization titleholder emphasized.

The long-time assistant of Pacquiao?s chief trainer Freddie Roach was referring to the stint of Canadian Dierry Jean, an up-and-coming lightweight who, yesterday, took the place of Finnish Edis Totli, one of the sparing mates that tested the fighting Sarangani Congressman?s mettle in the opening of the sparring session last Tuesday.

Another promising lightweight, retained his place in the rotation in what could probably mean he assumes the role as the regular sparing mate.

The idea, according to Fernandez is to solve the many potential problems Pacquiao will be encountering as far as the WBC/WBA belt-holder?s fighting style is concerned.

Roach had said before the start of the sparring that he has lined up six guys to do the chores.

Jean from Montreal, ranked third in the WBC 135-pound ranking, and Sims had three-rounds each in yesterday?s session.

Roger ?Haplas? Fernandez, or his part, said the rotation system in sparring would do well in Pacquiao?s preparations since his boss will be facing an opponents of Mayweather?s defensive qualities. Jean, meanwhile, was overwhelmed getting the experience of having chosen as one of the sparring partners to help Pacquiao hone up his skills in preparation of the showdown with ?Money May? dubbed as the ?Fight of the Century.?

?It?s a big honor for me to have been selected as one o Pacquiao?s sparring partners,? Jean told this writer while taking his dinner following yesterday?s workout. ?I hope I can, in my little way, measure up to what is expected of me.?

?Pacquiao is very fast and very strong,? that?s why he?s an eight-division world champion,? he said. ?I?m sure I can learn a lot from him.?

Jean, a personal choice of Pacquiao?s business consultant Mike Koncz, came with his personal coach, Mike Moffa, said he hopes to contribute the kind of defense Mayweather is known for on the way to amassing an amazing 47-0 win-loss record.
