PACQUIAO INTERNATIONAL OPEN 10-BALL BILLIARDS TOURNEY GETS UNDERWAY DEC 8-17

GENERAL SANTOS CITY ? World eight-division boxing champion and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao has announced the staging of 2nd Manny Pacquiao International Open 10-Ball Billiards Tournament here on Dec. 8 to 17.

Oliver Pauya,the one tasked to supervise the event, told Philboxing.com that many international and local cue artists had already confirmed their participation in the competition.

?I could not give you the exact number of participants right now but a lot of international and local professional billiards players had already confirmed their attendance,? Pauya said.

Pauya bared that the tournament has a total guaranteed prize of USD150,000 (P6.6 million).

Winners in the doubles category will bring home a total windfall of USD40,000 (P1.76 million), while the champion in singles category will receive USD13 (P.572 million).

The rest of the amount will go to the 2nd and 3rd place winners in both categories. There would also be consolation prizes.

Thorsten Hohmann of Germany won the grand prize in singles category, while the formidable tandem of Jeffrey Ignacio and Jeff De Luna bagged the doubles championship title.

De Luna hailed Pacquiao for staging the event and for giving the sport of billiards a big space in his heart.

Pauya further bared that the singles category will be held from Dec. 8 to 12 while the doubles will be staged from Dec. 13 to 17 at SM City-Gensan.

?The event is open to the public. It will wind up in time for the congressman?s 36th birthday celebration. So, the winners can join him in his birthday bash,? Pauya further said.
