Undefeated young Filipino sensation Alex John 'Bazooka' Banal will face a very tough foe in his United States debut when he takes on Mexican Juan Alberto Rosas underneath the Oscar De la Hoya-Floyd Mayweather Jr super-bout on May 5.
Banal (12-0, 10 KO's)is currently in Puerto Rico training alongside De la Hoya and Rey 'Boom Boom' Bautista at the Wilfredo Gomez Gym in Guaynabo.
"Oscar was very impressed when he saw Banal at the gym. And Banal will face a very dangerous foe on May 5," revealed Golden Boy Promotions vice-president Eric Gomez in an interview with Philboxing.com.
The 22-year-old Rosas, a native of Navojoa, Sonora, holds a fearsome record of 25 wins, 2 losses with 22 KO's, and has not been stopped in his two defeats.
The other day, Banal showed what he can do when he busted up the nose of undefeated Puerto Rican featherweight Jonathan Oquendo during a heated sparring session, according to sources in Puerto Rico.
