TALISAY CITY AMATEUR BOXING AWARDEES AND RESULTS

TALISAY CITY,CEBU-Amateur boxers Kit Ceron Garces, Marco Pomar and Marvin Pomar were awarded by the Talisay City local government and the Talisay City Amateur Boxing Association (TACABA) for their victories at the regional and national level.

The presentation of trophies was held Sunday night at the Talisay City Sports Complex as part of the BATTLEGROUND II Amateur boxing matches. Local officials headed by Mayor Johnny V. de los Reyes gave recognition to the boxers who have slowly made their presence felt in various amateur tournaments.

Garces was cited for his gold medal winning performance during the PLDT-ABAP National Amateur Boxing Championships held in Digos City last July. Garces also has golds in the Palarong Pambansa and Batang Pinoy tournaments and been consistent on the national stage for the past couple of years. Marco was recognized for his efforts at the regional level of Batang Pinoy and ABAP tourneys while Marvin was cited for his wins in Batang Pinoy and ABAP Regionals.

Garces easily beat his opponent in the last bout of the evening, needing only one left hook to the jaw in 21 seconds to stop Miller Morsilla. The referee of the featured match was TACABA Vice Pres. Teddy Alivio, who also served as the jury for the other amateur contests.

Marvin Pomar took 38 seconds to beat Junior Monillar using a liver punch in the opening round. Marco Pomar was not as fortunate, he lost to Richard Rama of the Phil-Aust gym in a hard fought match on points 2-1.

TACABA, headed by their president Engr. Risty Seville has been organizing amateur tournaments in this city in the hopes of finding more talent and future champions.

For the other results - Asley Fajardo beat Jefferson Trazo 2-1, Markhian Pomar beat June Mark 3-0, Kit Nino Bacalso won against Yerodge Gora 3-0, Limbert Cailap won 2-1 over Fritz Ramos, John Paul Gabunellas won by third round RSC (outclassed) over Rolito Mercado, Godfrey Lubiano beat PJ Orillo 2-1, Berland Robles beat Nicole Ramos 2-1, Junrel Dejamo won by RSC against Christian Monilar 3rd rnd.
