DUBAI,UAE- The biggest boxing promotional company in the Philippines is all set to make a splash on the world stage. ALA Promotions? PINOY PRIDE has become a first-rate brand. Even immigration officers immediately recognize the name of the popular boxing series.
For a first time visitor, one of the first things you notice in Dubai are the Filipino and Indian faces mixing with the locals. Then there is the heat, the impressive infrastructure and the breathtaking skyscrapers.
Aside from sampling exotic Middle Eastern cuisine, Filipino restaurants are not that hard to find.
The cast of PINOY PRIDE 27: DUEL IN DUBAI had their final press conference and weigh-in Thursday at the appropriately named Rocky?s Bar inside the Regent?s Palace Hotel. The event had a distinct Filipino flavor with Cebu and Manila boxing writers, ABS-CBN crew and GAB officials.
ALA Promotions VP Dennis Canete stated that ninety five percent of the tickets have been sold but fans are still expected to queue tonight at the Dubai World Trade Center.
Genesis ?Azukal? Servania will headline the September 5 event and he will defend his WBO Intercontinental super bantamweight title against Jose ?Matador? Cabrera of Mexico. Rey ?BoomBoom? Bautista will continue to campaign as a superfeatherweight when he squares off against another Mexican, Juan Jose Martinez.
?King? Arthur Villanueva will dispute the vacant IBF International jr.bantamweight title against Nicaragua?s Henry Maldonado.
ALA Promotions and ABS-CBN will be staging more fight cards in the Middle East. ALA Pres and CEO Michael Aldeguer said that ?We're looking for bigger shows next year. We?ll put up shows also in Abu Dhabi and Qatar.?
This region has a huge Filipino population and they will be counted on to show support for our boxers.
