Denver ?The Excitement? Cuello will make his long awaited return at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City. Cuello injured his shoulder when he challenged then reigning WBC strawweight champion Xiong Zhao Zhong of China, a fight that saw him lose by majority decision. He underwent surgery on his right shoulder and will be targeting the WBC Asia minimumweight title in his comeback bout.
Zhong has since lost his title to Oswaldo Novoa of Mexico. Promoter Aljoe Jaro informed philboxing that Cuello (33-5-6,21KO?s) will face Tommy Seran (23-2,14KO?s) of Indonesia. Seran, who lost to Milan Melindo in Macau, has beaten Filipino boxers Fernando Ocon and Marzon Cabilla. He also has held the WBO Asia-Pacific lt.flyweight title.
Jaro stated that Cuello has started sparring to prepare for the card billed as ?I SHALL RETURN, THE RETURN OF MR EXCITEMENT? at the 7500-seater arena on August 16.
