Exciting international boxing returns to La Trinidad Municipal Boxing Gym, with the thrilling Philippines VS Japan fights, an event that no boxing fan in Benguet should miss.

In the main event, "The Samurai" Takaya Kakutani from Osaka, Japan, comes to the Philippines to rumble fearless Filipino warrior Jeffrey "The Bull" Areinza for the green WBC Youth World Lightweight (135 lbs) belt with the winner likely entering the WBC world rankings.

The co-main event could not be more explosive. Japanese Yuya Nakamura of Osaka ready to engage Pinoy Benjamin Bartolome Beckel, La Trinidad in a war for honor and the LUZPROBA Flyweight (112 lbs) title.

In addition, undefeated hard-hitting "Gladiator" Rex Wao (8-0, 7 KO's) of Tadian, Mountain Province will battle tough as nails Jovill Marayan of Malolos City, Bulacan Province, for the Asian Boxing Featherweight (126 lbs) title.

In his last fight, the promising Rex Wao knocked out Samare?o southpaw Gerry Patenio with a thunderous body shot in round six. Will Rex aim at doing the same to Marayan? That will not be easy.

I have seen Marayan in action.

Last year, I attended the fight of Jovill Marayan against Thailand's world-rated veteran Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo (50-1, 33 KO's). It was a really tough war.

Jovill lost that afternoon at the Teerachai Muangmai Market in Nakhon Sawan, Kingdom of Thailand, but he exchanged blows as a warrior proving his big heart.

After the battle was over, I had dinner with Jovill and his trainer Jun Labandia at a road side Thai karenderia and Jovill was fine and in good spirits.

To me, it was an honor to eat with a brave Filipino fighter as Jovill Marayan. I wish him good luck in his battle against Rex Wao. It will be a tough one. May the best man win.

Whoever wins, fans in La Trinidad will be satisfied, assured the event promoter Brico Santig, who recently won the WBC Asian Promoter of the Year award.

"We are happy to have this exciting international boxing event this Sunday here in La Trinidad, Benguet Provnice. Japan boxers are real warriors and sportsmen and they come to the Philippines to win. Our Filipino boxers are all true professional fighters too, very willing to engage. Fans will be the biggest winners."

Plus, exciting Muay Thai battles and amateur fights will entertain the fights in an evening for the whole family.

Doors at La Trinidad Municipal Gym this Sunday (May 4) will open at 6pm.

The event this Sunday at La Trinidad is a production of Highland Boxing Promotions and promoter Naris Singwancha in association with the Municipality of La Trinidad and V.I.E.S. Consultancy office with special thanks to Mr. Jay Sobrepena, Camp Johnhay Manor, Happy Homes Development and Training Center Inc.
