CEBU CITY - The crowd that gathered around the SM City Events Center were treated to an entertaining boxing workout performed by five ALA gym boxers headed by WBO light flyweight champion Donnie 'Ahas' Nietes.
Rey 'BoomBoom' Bautista, Mark 'Magnifico' Magsayo and Mark 'Machete' Bernaldez opened the proceedings by skipping rope and performing ladder and box exercises. They were followed by Milan 'Metodico' Melindo and the champ Nietes who did various footwork and ball exercises.
All five boxers then hit the punch mitts with their trainers. They were well applauded by the fans who mobbed the boxers for photos after they finished their routine.
The promotional event was held Saturday evening and was graced by the presence of the Filipino Flash, Nonito Donaire, who is training at the ALA gym for his upcoming challenge against WBA world featherweight super champion Simpiwe Vetyeka of South Africa in Macau on May 31.

Nietes, the second longest reigning Filipino world champion, will try to extend his reign when he faces his nemesis Moises Fuentes of Mexico in an eagerly awaited rematch. Their twelve round battle last year ended in a majority draw with both camps claiming victory.
They will fight on May 10 in the main event of PINOY PRIDE 25 THE REMATCH FOR GLORY at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Melindo, the WBO International flyweight titlist, will be on the co-main event and is penned to fight Mexican Martin Tecuapetla.
Bautista will face another Mexican, Sergio Villanueva, in a ten round non-title contest. Bernaldez will be pitted against Non Sithsaithong of Thailand while Magsayo will trade punches with Hyuk-tak Joo of South Korea.
