While many articles have been written about the upcoming Gerry Pe?alosa-Ponce de Leon WBO super bantamweight title fight 10 days from now at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, not too many “training photos” of Gerry have been posted, not on the internet or the printed media. For this reason, Pacland Forum members like “Big Punch”, Black Corner, Chrisghemm and Binoy have asked: - “Where are the training pictures?”.
As the PhilBoxing.com correspondent based in the Los Angeles , this writer felt that it is his responsibility to address the issue. So my fellow Paclanders, for your viewing pleasure, please enjoy the photos I took this morning at the Wildcard Gym documenting Gerry’s training session for today.
Needless to say, Gerry appears to be ready for March 17th. Judging from his sparring today under the watchful eyes of Roach’ associate, Justin Fortune, against a couple of super bantamweights, a Mexican pug named Jorge Diaz and a Nicaraguan, Julio Gamboa, nothing is going to stop Gerry from giving everything to capture another world title.
Gerry himself told this writer that they are breaking camp on the weekend and will proceed to Las Vegas on Monday, March 12th for the usual week-long media and pre-fight hoopla that is part of the promotions and the Barrera-Marquez fight on the 17th.
When asked if he has a message for Paclanders and his fans in the Philippines, Gerry replied:- “Please tell them not to worry too much for I have done my part and my responsibilities regarding this fight”. He added, “I have trained very hard, harder than I ever did before and I am ready”. However, it would help if my fans will keep me in their prayers”
Pe?alosa will travel with a small entourage from Los Angeles that includes Diosdado “Prince” Gabi who is also scheduled to fight an 8 rounder on the same card against Giovanni Andrade.
