Accolades continue to pour in to the ALA Group for the highly successful staging of the 'Moment of Truth' boxing event last Feb. 24 in Cebu.
Ring Magazine writer Scott Mallon, in an e-mail to Antonio L. Aldeguer and Sammy Gello-ani of ALA Boxing Gym and SGG Sports Promotions, singled out the event's top quality set up. "I've been to fights all over Asia and can honestly say it was the most well put together show I've ever been to," said Mallon, an American who is now based in Thailand.
The 'Moment of Truth' event, which was beamed to television live or on a slighltly delayed basis by Philippine TV Network giant ABS-CBN throughout North America, Europe and Asia, earlier received praises from boxing afficionados and media personalities all over the world and has proven that one need not go to Las Vegas to see a world-class boxing event.
As far as the controversial result of the world championship bout between Mexico's Fernando Montiel and the Philippine's Z Gorres, Mallon, who was at ringside to take photos of the fight, told Aldeguer and Gello-ani that "you already have a champion in Gorres, he just didn't get the belt."
"I personally thought your boy had the fight won (8-4, maybe 7-5). Anyhow, I'm of the belief that good things happen to good people and in the near future you will have the champion you desire," Mallon concluded.
