ROBLES WANTS REVENGE ON PENALOSA BRO
The former foe of Manny Pacquiao has invaded Manila. Hector Velasquez (56-20, 38KO) a gritty veteran of many major battles, goes toe to toe with Michael ?Hammer Fist? Farenas. They will fight for the vacant WBC Asia Council Continental Super Featherweight Championship this coming March 21, 2014 at the Fil-Oil Flying V San Juan Arena, San Juan City Metro Manila.
The semi main event will be another explosion as Alem Robles (8-4, 3KO) of Los Mochis Mexico of the LA RAZA GYM will return to avenge his technical unanimous decision loss to Dodie Boy Penalosa Jr when he takes on the brother Dave Penalosa (7-0, 5KO) in a super bantamweight bout.
Velasquez is accompanied by his brother Hugo Velasquez and coming into this fight in great condition. Velasquez comes in with a lot of experience and hasn?t been knocked out since his loss to Manny Pacquiao on Sept. 09, 2005.
The name of Velasquez comes into the minds of many Filipinos, as an opponent of Manny and Bobby Pacquiao but also to the top Cebu sportswriters when they uncovered the fake Genaro Garcia when he boasted that the toughest fight he ever had was against Hector Velasquez. Garcia did lose by a 1st round KO.
Robles stated, ?I want to beat Dave Penalosa and then I want the rematch with Dodie Boy Jr. as we have unsettled business. I had Penalosa hurt, he knew it, and the fans knew it. After I demolished Dave, Dodie Boy Jr. is next.?
Velasquez arrived Friday morning via Los Angeles on a 19 hour trip and Robles arrived later in the evening via a very long trip that lasted 40 hours. Their early arrival give them time to acclimate to the hot weather of Manila being here one week before the big event.
This will be the toughest test for the young Penalosa. Being the son of the two time world champion Dodie Boy Jr. and the nephew of two time world champion Gerry Penalosa, the blood runs with championship genes.
