MGM GRAND GARDEN ARENA, LAS VEGAS -- Francisco Vargas of Mexico City kept his record clean at 19-0-1 with 13 KOs with a unanimous decision win over Abner Cotto of Puerto Rico (17-2-0, 8KO) during their 10-round super featherweight bout here Saturday night (above photo) in the undercard of the Canelo Alvarez vs Alfredo Angulo PPV fight. Judges scores were 97-94, 97-93 and 96-94 all in favor for Vargas.
In the 3rd fight of the night, Joseph Diaz (9-0-0, 6KO) of South El Monte, CA stopped Jovany Fuentes (5-4-0, 4KO) of Bayamon, Puerto Rico with a vicious body shot to score a TKO win. Time of stoppage is at 2:54 in the 5th round (below photo).
