Another fight card showcasing the Philippines vs Mexico boxing rivalry will take place on March 14 when superfeatherweight prospect Michael Fare?as battles Mexico?s Miguel Zamudio at the Y?ares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Fare?as (37W-4L-4D, 29 KO?s) and Zamudio (26W-3L-1D, 14KO?s) will also be fighting for the WBO Oriental super featherweight title. Zamudio was on an eight fight winning streak before he was stopped in round one against Javier Fortuna last April 2013 in a WBA world interim featherweight title bout.
Fare?as is on a hot streak since losing a decision to Yuriorkis Gamboa in 2012. Last year, he stopped Gerardo Zayas of Mexico in one round in April and beat Thai Kosol Sor Vorapin by second round knockout last October in Makati City. Fare?as would end 2013 by beating another Mexican, Jesus Rios by TKO in the second round last December at the Solaire Resort and Casino.
Former two division world champ turned promoter Gerry Pe?alosa informed that this card will be the second presentation of MAG Pacman Boxing Promotions and will be shown on GMA TV.
Dave Pe?alosa (7-0,5KO?s), the son of former two division champion Diosdado ?Dodie Boy? Pe?alosa, will try to keep his unblemished record when he takes on Alem Robles(6-4-2, 2KO?s) of Mexico. This is the same Robles who lost to Dave?s brother, Dodie,Jr, by seventh round technical decision in the same Solaire card held last December. Dave fought twice in Macau last year, knocking out Thais Cheroenchai Sithsaithong and Ngaotawan Sithsaithong. Pe?alosa vs Robles will be a non-title contest.
