PASIG CITY - Genesis "Azukal" Servania of the ALA Gym and former WBA super flyweight world champion Alexander "El Explosivo" Mu?oz of Venezuela are all set for their twelve round super bantamweight battle this Saturday at the Solaire Resort and Casino.
Servania (23-0, 9 KO's) weighed in at 121 lbs while Mu?oz (36-5, 28 KO's) was at the division limit of 122 lbs. They will fight for Servania's WBO Intercontinental belt.
For the co-main feature, "Prince" Albert Pagara (18-0, 12 KO's) and Isack Junior (22-4-2, 8KO's) of Indonesia both weighed 122 lbs for their ten round non-title contest.
"King" Arthur Villanueva (24-0, 14KO's) and Fernando Aguilar (9-6,1KO) of Mexico both weighed an identical 116 lbs. They will also engage in a ten round non-title bout.
For the other supporting matches - Mark "Magnifico" Magsayo (126lbs) vs Royroy Sumugat (127lbs) - 6 rounds, Melvin "Top Gun" Gumban (115lbs) vs Dino Lelis (113.5lbs) - 8 rounds, Vic Saludar (106lbs) vs Philip Luis Cuerdo (106lbs) - 6 rounds and Reymi Castellano Aleye (132lbs) of Cuba vs Diover Magaya-ay (133lbs) - 6 rounds.
PINOY PRIDE XXIV:THE FUTURE IS NOW will be at the Grand Ballroom of the Solaire in Para?aque City.
NOTES:
Two visiting Venezuelan boxers made an impact here in the Philippines - Israel Contreras and Jean Piero Perez. Contreras dethroned then reigning WBA bantamweight world champ Luisito Espinosa at the Araneta Coliseum by 5th round knockout way back in 1991.
Perez gave Milan Melindo one hell of a fight before losing a majority decision in Cebu City two years ago.
Boxing connoisseurs are advised to come early for the opening bout. Aleye showed a high skill level typical of Cuban boxers when he fought in Cebu City last January and winning a unanimous nod against Rodel Wenceslao.
Munoz weighs in at the Robinson's Galleria Activity Center Friday afternoon.
Servania weighs in.
