Marvin Sonsona, now back as marvelous again, told the international media gathered at the Venetian Theatre Thursday afternoon: ?I will make this a good fight so you will know that I am Marvin Sonsona.? Read story here.

With the one punch knockout he delivered against former world champion Akifumi Shimoda of Japan at the CotaiArena Saturday night, Sonsona sure did fulfill his promise, and more.

The stunning knockout is an instant candidate for knockout of the year. Top Rank boss Bob Arum was so impressed with the knockout that he said ?That?s one of the best knockouts in all of the 50 years or so that I?ve been in boxing that I?ve seen. The left uppercut traveled in such a short distance with so much power.?

Once the shot detonated at Shimoda's jaw, the Japanese was out of his senses in an instant and it took about 5 minutes for him to revive.

The knockout was so sudden and stunning because there was no indication whatsoever about its arrival. During the first two rounds, Sonsona was throwing nothing and the fight was so dull that Top Rank ace photographer Chris Farina, shooting at ringside, instead decided to go to Zou Shiming's dressing room to get some shots of Zou and Freddie Roach. ?I planned to go back once the fight gets more interesting,? Farina said. ?And then, sh*t! I saw on TV that the Japanese was out. I missed that tremendous knockout punch. And if Bob [Arum] looks for it [the photo], I'll get fired,? Farina said.

How old is Arum? ?I'm too old in boxing,? Arum, who was singing praises on multi-titled trainer 53-year old Freddie Roach and Chinese star Zou Shiming during the post-fight press conference, said. ?I'm too old that this guy here beside me Freddie Roach was once one of my boxers.?

Arum: "Freddie Roach was once one of my boxers."
