CEBU--World Boxing Organization (WBO) president Francisco 'Paco' Valcarcel of Puerto Rico is set to arrive here in the country's boxing capital as a special guest for this Saturday's 'Moment of Truth' card, the biggest boxing spectacle in Cebu history, at the Cebu City Sports Complex.
WBO vice-president for Asia Pacific Leon Panoncillo, who arrived today from the United States, said that Valcarcel will be the highest boxing official to set foot in Cebu upon the invitation of Oscar De la Hoya and sportsman Antonio L. Aldeguer.
"No question about it. I can't recall in my 25 years in boxing that the highest ranking official of boxing will come to Cebu. That's the importance they have given this fight," noted Aldeguer in an interview today.
Meanwhile, a Final Press Conference will be held tomorrow to be attended by GBP vice-president Eric Gomez and international matchmaker Sampson Lewkowicz, as well as all main event boxers in the 'Moment of Truth' card at the Caspian Hall of Waterfront Hotel & Casino Cebu City, Lahug.
WBO superfly champ Fernando Montiel will finally get to size up his Cebuano challenger Z 'The Dream' Gorres at tomorrow's press conference which will be presided by promoter Sammy 'Don King' Gello-ani of SGG Sports Promotions.
