Former WBC super flyweight champion Gerry Pe?alosa extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late World Boxing Council (WBC) president Don Jose Sulaiman who passed away a few days ago at the age of 82.

?We have lost a great man who laid the foundation to what the boxing industry is now.? Pe?alosa said, ?Personally, he became a mentor who shared his wisdom and inspiration.?

?He was introduced to me by Atty. Rudy Salud. Those two were boxing legends who I had the fortune to personally know.? Pe?alosa recalled, ?Our deepest sympathies to his family.?

Sulaiman was one of the most important and powerful figures in world boxing. He was the president of the WBC for 38 years.
Pe?alosa reigned as WBC super flyweight champ from 1997-1998. He would win an International title with the WBC and defend from 2000 to 2002. He won another title with the WBF in 2004 and moved up in weight to win a bantamweight world title with the WBO in 2007. Pe?alosa retired in 2010 and is now a promoter and plans another boxing show in Metro Manila this March.
