James Kirkland (R) overpowered Glen Tapia with volume punches in six rounds of their 10-round non-titled fight at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ on the undercard of Guillermo Rigodeaux vs Joseph Agbeko WBA/WBO super bantamweight world title fight.

Tapia, who had his moments in the early rounds by moving well and tagging Kirkland with left hooks, could not keep up with Kirkland's relentless pressure. The end came at 38 seconds of the sixth round when Kirkland drove Tapia into a corner and punished Pacquiao's ersthwhile sparring partner with lefts and rights to the body and head before Referee Steve Smoger came in to stop the carnage.

Kirkland improved his record to 32 wins and 1 loss while Tapia suffered his first defeat in 20 fights.
