Las Vegas, NV: It was a fight predicted clearly by the bookmakers in this City. They knew that Floyd Mayweather Jr (45-0-0,26KO) will toy with the great Mexican hope, Saul ?Canelo? Alvarez (42-1-1,30KO) and he will do it for 12 long rounds.
That is why they set the odds the way they did, overwhelmingly in favor of Floyd!
Mayweather took the young Mexican to the cleaners and at the same time showed him in no uncertain way that he is not yet ready to challenge the best present day boxer in our era.
Alvarez, to his credit had some moments during the fight but he was not able to follow up his attack in the few times that he hit Mayweather. He did not have the ability to sustain an attack and basically relied on his power, thinking that he can land a lucky haymaker.
In the end Mayweather proved once again no one can beat him in his game.
Mayweather and Alvarez threw almost the same amount of punches with the young Mexican doing 526 to May weather?s 505.
The big difference was in the total connected. Mayweather connected 232 (46%) while Alvarez had 117 (22%)
In the power punches thrown, Alvarez outdid Mayweather by 232- 175 but he only connected 73 while Mayweather had 93 connects, a difference of 53% to 31%.
Another interesting stat was Mayweather landed 11 of 27 jabs per round.
Mayweather won the fight by a surprising majority decision. The scores were Craig Metcalfe 117-111, Dave Moretti 116-112 and the stunner, CJ Ross- 114 to 114.
In the supporting main event, WBO/WBA super lightweight champion Danny Garcia (27-0-0,16KO) of Philadelphia, PA retained his titles via a unanimous decision against the classy Argentinean slugger Lucas Matthysee (34-3-0, 32KO).

Both fighters initially played a cautious game feeling each other and waiting for the other to make a mistake. The fight started to heat up in the middle rounds with Garcia landing lefts to close the eyes of Matthyssee. With that Garcia gained a huge advantage as his opponent had a hard time seeing his punches coming from the left hand.
In the eleventh round Garcia scored a flash knockdown and the end became inevitable. It was only a matter time when he will keep his titles.
Garcia threw 624 total punches landing 225 of them for a total of 36%. Matthyssee did 566 and landed 206 for about the same 36% rate.
In the power punches landed Garcia had 174 out of 361 (48%) and Matthyssee 153 of 346 (44%).
The scores in the fight were Juergen Langos, 114-112, Robert Hoyle, 114-112 and Glenn Trowbridge, 115-111.
Other Fight Results:
Carlos Molina of Morelia, Mexico (22-5-2,6KO) beat Ishe Shay Smith of Las Vegas (25-6-0-11KO) by majority decision and won the IBF Junior middleweight title. The 12 round fight was the most boring of the evening. The scores were: 117-111, 116-112 and 112-116.
Pablo Cesar Cano of Tianepantia, Mexico (27-3-1,20K0) beat the very arrogant Ashley Theophane of Las Vegas (33-6-1, 10KO) by majority decision. The scores were 98-93, 97-93 and 94-96.
Luis Arias of Las Vegas (7-0-0,3KO) shut down James Winchester of Reidsville, NC (16-9-0-6KO). The scores were all 60-54 from the three judges.
Ronald Gabril of Las Vegas (7-0-0,5KO) kept his record clean via a wide unanimous decision over Shujaa El Amin of Flint, Michigan. The scores were all 79-73 from the three judges.
Chris Pearson of Dayton, Ohio (12-0-0,8KO) also kept his undefeated record via a TKO over Joshua Williams of Westerly, Rhode Island. (9-6-0,5KO). Referee Russell Mora waived the fight off due to numerous unanswered punches. Time was 1:14 of round one.
Lanell Bellows of Las Vegas (6-0-1,4KO) scores a TKO over Jordan Moore of Logan. West Virginia (3-1-0)
Andrew Tabiti of Las Vegas (1-0-0, 1KO) did not have an opportunity to fight as his opponent Edward Smith of Nskayumn, NY was sent home by the NSAC for refusing to take a pre-fight urine test.
