CEBU ? Virgilio ?Maton? Silvano of the Omega Boxing Gym will fight for his first regional title when he goes up against Jetly Purisima of Gen. Santos City for the vacant WBO Oriental junior flyweight title this Saturday September 7. This regional title bout is set at the Balamban Sports Complex and will also feature former WBO superflyweight world champion Marvin Sonsona and world ranked flyweight Froilan ?The Sniper? Saludar.

Silvano weighed in at 107 lbs while Purisima stepped on the scales at 107.5 lbs. during the official weigh-in held Friday noon.

The 23 year old Silvano (16W-2L-1D, 10 KO?s) is the reigning Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) light flyweight titlist and in his last fight in February beat Louie Arlos by unanimous decision in Dalaguete. The 25 year old Purisima (17W-12L-4D, 5 KO?s) is a hardened road warrior who has fought in Thailand and Indonesia.

The official weigh-in was at the Omega Gym in Mabolo, Cebu City and was supervised by Rolando Mendoza and Glen Agena. Witnessing the proceedings and presiding over the rules meeting was WBO VP for Asia-Pacific Leon Panoncillo.

After more than a year of absence from the ring, Marvin Sonsona will fight as a superfeatherweight against battle-tested Jason Egera of Siaton, Negros Oriental. Sonsona (16-1-1, 13KO?s) was weighed at 130 while Egera stepped in at 128.5 lbs.

Sonsona is reunited with his old trainer, Jun Agrabio, who guided his meteoric rise to the top from 2007 to 2009.

Egera (21-8, 10 KO?s) ,who has faced the likes of Roli Gasca, Michael Farenas and Jundy Maraon, saw action in Japan and beat Ryoji Okahata by split decision. Sonsona?s last bout was a fifth round KO win over Dominican Carlos Fulgencio here in Cebu last March 2012.

The unbeaten Saludar (16-0-1, 11 KO?s),has not seen action since September of last year after beating Jose Alfredo Tirado of Mexico by unanimous decision, will face road warrior Julius Alcos. Saludar was at 113.5 while Alcos was much heavier at 122. Alcos (21-12, 3 KO?s) , who has seen action in South Africa and Thailand, will wear the heavier gloves on fight night.
