BUDAPEST ? Undefeated Filipino super bantamweight prospect Genesis 'Azukal' Servania has been named WBO Asia-Pacific Fighter of the Year. The award was received by ALA Promotions President Michael Aldeguer during Wednesday night's beach side dinner party at Csonakhaz Mulato Restaurant tendered for the WBO convention participants.

Servania, 22, captured the WBO superbantam title on Aug. 18, 2013 in Cebu by beating Jorge Pazos of Mexico via 12 round unanimous decision. Servania successfully defended it twice, first against Angky Angkota of Indonesia via 7th round TKO in March this year, also in Cebu, and against Japan's Konosuke Tomiyama in a 9th round technical decision win at the Venetian Macao Resort & Casino in Macau, China.

Also awarded a certificate of recognition by the WBO was GAB chairman Ramon 'Monju' Guanzon, who is in town together with GAB commissioners Fritz Gaston and Aquil Tamano for the purpose of putting up a bid to host next year's WBO convention in Manila. It will be known today whether the Philippines' bid will be successful.

After Tuesday's discussion of WBO's internal affairs by the WBO executive committee and yesterday's whole-day seminar by the judges and referees, today's rating's committee discussion is expected to produce fireworks as managers and promoters try to position their fighters for the top rankings. WBO Filipino world champions Merlito Sabillo's and Donnie Nietes's next opponents will also be known today.
