Marco Demecillo (18-1-1, 14 KO?s) of the RWS Gym is set to defend his Philippine superflyweight title in Dipolog City against undefeated challenger Giovanni Escaner (10-0, 6 KO?s) of Paranaque City in the main event of the fight card billed as ?Astig Pinoy I?.

Demecillo will try to bounce back from his first career defeat, a unanimous decision loss to OPBF superflyweight champion ?King? Arthur Villanueva in Davao City last April. Marco fights under the name Marco Singwangcha to honor his Thai sponsor, Naris Singwangcha.

The 22 year old Demecillo won the title in April of last year with a third round TKO over Marvin Mabait in Mactan and defended it against Marjun Tabamo by 4th round TKO last September 2012. Demecillo had an excellent learning experience last month when he sparred with Tomoki Kameda of Japan at the RWS Gym in Labangon, Cebu City. Tomoki would go on to dethrone Paulus Ambunda of Namibia for the WBO bantamweight world title last August 1 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel.

The 23 year old Escaner has scored stoppage wins in four of his last five fights.

Completing the line-up of the August 17 card are Gadwin Tubigon vs Donriel Marcos (10 rounds), Anthony Sabalde Singwangcha vs Jefrrey Jimenez (8 rounds), Kenny Demecillo Singwangcha vs Edward Camion (6 rounds), Michael Acevedo vs Carlo Singwangcha (4 rounds), and Bryan Capangpangan vs Melmark Dignos (4 rounds).
