
AMBUNDA-KAMEDA UNDERCARD BOXERS MAKE WEIGHT

The boxers who will fight in the preliminary bouts are all set for their rare moment on a big card when they warm the seats for the blockbuster ?Battle of the Undefeated? Ambunda vs Kameda WBO bantamweight world title fight after they had a separate weigh-in held Wednesday afternoon at the GAB-Cebu office.
Gerpaul Valero, a former Buhay Boksingero champion, will face the biggest challenge of his career against the hard-hitting former WBC world flyweight champion Sonny Boy Jaro of the Jaro Boxing Gym of Binangonan.
Valero, from the Flores Boxing Stable, weighed in at 115 lbs while Jaro, from the Jaro Boxing Gym of Binangonan, Rizal, was a pound heavier. They will engage in a ten round non-title bout. Valero and Jaro will head the undercard matches featuring the boxers fighting for Team Singwangcha.
Up and coming prospects Ardie Boyose, Neil John Tabanao and Joey Canoy complete the team sponsored by Thai boxing patron Naris Singwangcha and Fighter Wine.
Boyose (123.5 lbs) will fight Al Grumo (126 lbs) of Surigao, Tabanao (122.5 lbs) trades punches with Charlie Pucdol (121 lbs) of the Omega Boxing Gym and Canoy (102 lbs) faces Marwin Cristota (100 lbs), also from Surigao del Sur.
Also set to see action is up and coming prospect Jack Tepora (119 lbs) of the Omega Gym who will face Randy Gomez (113.5 lbs) in an eight rounder. In a couple of four rounders, Andrew Palas (112 lbs) will fight Robert Awetin (112 lbs) and Joyjoy Formentera (114 lbs) trades punches with Rizaldo Sangong (114.5 lbs). The weigh-in was supervised by officials of GAB-Cebu.
The card?s two main bouts had their weigh-in at the Waterfront Hotel. Defending champion Paulus Ambunda of Namibia and challenger Tomoki Kameda of Japan made weight, Ambunda came in at 117 lbs while Kameda stepped the scales at 117.5 lbs. The main supporting bout will have Marlon Tapales, who weighed in at 115 lbs versus Fredirex Rodriguez, who stepped on the scales at 117 lbs for their WBO Asia-Pacific title bout.
The opening bout is set at 5PM with Ambunda-Kameda set at 7PM for the fight to be aired live to Japan. Battle of the Undefeated? is set on Thursday August 1 at the Pacific Ballroom of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel.
RWS Promotions has announced that the general admission seats have been offered free to the public.
