Martinez (L) and Tapales (R).
CEBU - Marlon ?The Nightmare? Tapales (22-2, 9 KO?s) of Lanao del Norte will face Edgar ?Chololo? Martinez (15-7, 9 KO?s) of Chihuahua, Mexico in the main undercard match for the WBO world bantamweight title fight between champion Paulus Ambunda (20-0, 10 KO?s) of Namibia and Japanese challenger Tomoki Kameda (27-0, 18 KO?s) at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel on August 1.

RWS Gym trainer Juanito Ablaca informed philboxing of this match-up. Tapales was initially reported to be facing Fredirex Rodriguez of Bukidnon.

Martinez won by KO in his last four bouts. He suffered losses against the likes of Ivan Morales and Sammy Gutierrez. Tapales bounced back from his majority decision loss to David Sanchez in Mexico to stop Ruben Manakane of Indonesia in four rounds in a fight held in Japan last May.

Martinez will be fighting out of Mexico for the first time. Aside from Manakane, Tapales has beaten four other foreign foes - Alejandro Solorio of California (MD6) , Yodpichai Sithsaithong of Thailand (KO4), Martin Mubiru of Uganda (UD10), and Rasmanudin of Indonesia (KO2).

The Ambunda (20-0, 10 KO?s) vs. Kameda (27-0, 18 KO?s) title fight is an intriguing match between two undefeated fighters and will mark the first time that a world title fight between two foreigners will headline a boxing card here in the Cebu, the island known as the nerve center of boxing here in the Philippines.

The August 1 Waterfront card is presented by Kameda Promotions and RWS Promotions and will be beamed live to Japan.
