BANTAYAN ISLAND ? Roli Gasca of the ALA Gym beat Jimmy Aducal by a lopsided unanimous decision in the main event of the ALA-Cobra ?Tunay na Lakas? fight card held at the municipal plaza of Bantayan Island Saturday night.

The slippery Gasca made Aducal miss while landing clean counterpunches. Gasca?s punches got stronger as the rounds progressed but Aducal , who hails from the X-Con gym, managed to survive and land punches of his own. In the 8th round, Gasca hammered Aducal on the ropes but could not finish him off. Gasca continued to land scoring shots in the final two rounds and won handily - 99-91, 99-91 and 98-93.

Gasca goes up to 20W-4L-1D, 5 KO?s. He is a former OPBF and PABA regional champion but had a two fight losing streak overseas before he had a majority draw against former WBA world super bantamweight champion Akifumi Shimoda of Japan in Tokyo last April 6. Aducal drops to his second loss at 6W-2L-2D, 5 KO?s.

In a tremendous display of courage from both boxers, Mark ?El Supremo? Acub of the ALA Gym won a hard fought ten round majority decision over Rene Bestudio of the X-Con gym.

They traded well placed punches at the opening bell as Acub jumped to an early lead. In the third, a punch from Bestudio opened a cut on Acub?s right eyebrow. Acub responded with ferocity and staggered Bestudio with head and body shots.

But Bestudio managed to weather the storm and surged in the latter half of the fight. Referee Teddy Alivio deducted a point from Bestudio in rounds seven and eight for headbutts. But Bestudio continued his pressure and had Acub reeling in the last three rounds. Acub managed to stay on his feet and won by scores of 95-94, 95-93 on two judges? cards, one judge had it 94-94.

Acub remains unbeaten at 12W-0L, 9 KO?s while Bestudio drops to 15W-5L-4D, 5 KO?s.

For the preliminary contests, Engelbert Moralde beat Junior Salvador by unanimous decision. The scores 59-55, 59-56 and 58-56.

John Vincent Moralde beat Rolando Navarette,Jr by TKO at the start of the fifth round. A fading Navarette was battered in the 4th and his corner signaled that his boxer would no longer enter the 5th round.

Ivor Lastrilla beat Jun ?Flash? Intor by technical decision in the third round of a scheduled four rounder. Lastrilla did not want anything to do with Intor?s antics and knocked down Intor in round one. Accidental headbutts inflicted cuts on Intor?s scalp and left eyelid which led to the stoppage. Lastrilla was ahead on two judges 29-27, 28-27 and one had it 28-28.

In the opening bout of the evening, Kim Galon and Ryan Canillas fought to a majority draw after four fast paced rounds. The scores ? 38-38,38-38 and one judge had it for Galon at 39-37. This boxing event was supervised by GAB-Cebu?s Celso Miranda, Rolando Mendoza and Glen Agena and promoted by ALA Promotions and Cobra Energy Drink.
