Romnick Magos of the RWS Gym is set for another big fight overseas next month when he faces Kohei Kubo of Japan in Tokyo. Magos? trainer Juanito Ablaca informed philboxing of this match.

Magos (8W-2L, 4 KO?s) will no longer be defending the WBO Asia-Pacific Youth flyweight title he won last December by a come from behind TKO win over Aston Palicte.

Magos was down face first in the opening round but he got up to stop Palicte in the fourth. The 22 year old Magos? feat earned him a citation during the 31st SAC-SMB Cebu Sports Awards last March. Magos had previously lost in his bid to win the IBF Pan-Pacific belt in Thailand when he lost to Rusalee Samor by unanimous decision.

The 28 year old Kubo (15W-3L-1D, 10 KO?s) has fought mostly Japanese boxers and will be facing a Filipino for the first time. His boxrec record shows that he has yet to fight for a local or regional belt. Magos vs. Kubo is set on July 6.
