CEBU CITY ? WBO junior flyweight world champion Donnie ?Ahas? Nietes has resumed his training and sparring sessions at the ALA Gym.

Nietes is looking forward to defending his title against a challenger of his choosing sometime in August before he faces former WBO minimumweight champion Moises Fuentes of Mexico in a rematch. The two champs fought to a 12 round majority draw last March here in Cebu.

Both camps claimed victory in a well fought competitive battle and a return engagement was inevitable.

Nietes sparred with OPBF flyweight champ Rocky Fuentes last Tuesday afternoon. Both boxers joked during the start of the session that this was the ?rematch? ? Nietes vs Fuentes.

Nietes will return to Mexico for a fourth time to defend against Fuentes, who is still his mandatory challenger, sometime in November or December.

Nietes has achieved some degree of notoriety in Mexico for having successfully defended his WBO minimumweight title there three times before going up to light flyweight and dethrone another Mexican, Ramon Garcia Hirales in Bacolod City.
