MANDAUE CITY ? It was the turn of Jose Emilio Perea of Mexico and Isack Junior of Indonesia to meet the Cebu sportswriters in a press conference held today at the Allure Hotel and Suites. Perea, who will face Jimrex ?Executioner? Jaca (37-6-3, 21 KO?s) for the vacant WBO Oriental light welterweight title, revealed that his real fight record is not 22-2, 14 KO?s. He has seven wins not posted on the internet and his real record is 29W-2L, 20 KO?s.
Jaca is known to Perea?s trainer Ernesto Salgado Garcia, who was the physical conditioning trainer of Juan Manuel Marquez when he fought Jaca in Texas in 2006.
?We trained in high altitude. Mexicans vs Filipinos always make for good fights. We know Jaca is a warrior. He had Marquez in trouble. I expect a tough fight against Jaca.? Garcia said.
Perea also expects a tough battle but is confident of winning. ?I don?t know if I will win by KO or by decision but I have the
confidence that I will win.?
Garcia however will not reveal his strategy and said that fans will have to see once they get inside the ring.
Isack (20-3-2, 8 KO?s) has beaten Filipio boxers Jecker Buhawe, Joel Rafols and an old Cebu crowd favorite Bert Batawang. Isack?s trainer, Arlo Lahenda said that they have seen video?s of Genesis Servania?s fights.
?This is an important match for us,? Lahenda said, ?We prepared for two months. We know Servania has a good record. He has good defense and good technique.?
Both Isack and Perea have praises for the host city. Perea said that ?Cebu is very beautiful. If I wasn?t born in Mexico, I would have wanted to be born here in Cebu.?
Isack said that the Cebuanos have been very friendly.
Pinoy Pride XX: ?Laban kung Laban? will be held at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino on May 25. The main event will be the WBO International light welterweight title fight between defending champion Jason ?El Ni?o? Pagara (30-2, 19KO?s) and Aaron ?La Hoya? Herrera (25-1, 17 KO?s) of Mexico.
