The long wait is over. Promoter Aljoe Jaro informed philboxing that Denver ?The Excitement? Cuello (33-4-6, 21 KO?s) will challenge WBC 105 lb division world champion Xiong Zhao Zhong (20W-4L-1D, 11 KO?s) of China on June 28 in Dubai.
Jaro said that both camps have signed the contracts and only the specific venue in Dubai needs to be chosen. Denver aka. Cuello Singwangcha will also have to comply with the medical requirements including keeping his weight in check. Cuello will have to be at 115 lbs 30 days before the fight. This will not be problem according to Jaro. Cuello?s weight will be checked at the GAB office in Makati by GAB chief of boxing division Dr. Nasser Cruz.
Denver is also training hard and sparring with IBF Asia Pacific flyweight champion Ryan Rey Ponteras.
Zhong won the vacant title last November by unanimous decision over Javier Martinez Resendiz of Mexico. Cuello, a southpaw from Iloilo and the mandatory challenger, won by majority decision over Japanese Takashi Kunishige last April 7 in Osaka.
