DENVER VS ZHONG

Promoter Aljoe Jaro and Denver Cuello

Promoter Aljoe Jaro is still waiting confirmation for the final date and venue for the long awaited title shot between his prized fighter, Denver ?The Excitement? Cuello Singwangcha and WBC strawweight champion WBC champion Xiong Zhao Zhong of China. It was reported in an earlier article that Jaro went to Thailand to meet with Zhong?s camp.

Zhong (20W-4L-1D, 11 KO?s) won the vacant title last November by unanimous decision over Javier Martinez Resendiz of Mexico. Cuello (33W-4L-6D, 21 KO?s), a southpaw from Iloilo and the mandatory challenger, won by majority decision over Japanese Takashi Kunishige last April 7 in Osaka.

After a string of defeats suffered by the more popular Filipino champions, Cuello is one of the boxers being cited as capable of placing the country back in the win column and capture a world title.
