In many news organization, be it the print media, the internet or television, it is very seldom that the boss himself and his chief writer will leave the office and travel to a distant land just to report on boxing.

Boss Shiva, aka Dong Secuya, accompanied by the most prolific boxing writer in the country and one of the best Philippine boxing judge, Salven Lagumbay made the trip to do just that.

They arrived in Los Angeles ahead of the fight date and immediately settled down to the business of covering the pre-fight activities that involved Manny Pacquiao. They elected to be billeted at the Vagabond Inn in Hollywood right next to the Wildcard Gym to have a ready access to the activities. When the time came for the Team Pacquiao to travel to Vegas, they were amongst those in the entourage/caravan to assure real time reporting of the events that were happening.

In Vegas, they stayed at a nice hotel right across the Wynn’s Hotel and Resort, the promoter’s headquarters. Again, this gave them ready access to all breaking news thus, readers of this website were informed with up to the minute news.

Their coverage of the Pacquiao-Morales Trilogy was flawless. Simply put, it was a job well done. On the side, prior to the fight, they even had time to attend an EB of the “Paclanders” who were in Vegas to witness the trilogy. The EB gave many US-based “Paclanders” the rare chance to rub elbow with them and, get to know originator “PhilBoxing.com and “Pacland”, two of the best boxing websites in the world..

After the Pacquiao-Morales Trilogy, they proceeded to Hidalgo, Texas to report on the Jimrex Jaca-Juan Manuel Marquez fight. That match drew a lot of controversies involving promoters, thus the presence of Boss Shiva and Lagumbay was important. No one from Philippine media but them could provide a balance story worthy of praises from everyone involved in boxing. And, that is exactly what they did!

From Texas, they proceeded to Tampa, Florida to cover the much delayed BoomBoom Bautista-Giovanni Andrade fight. Needless to say, the reporting plus the photographs were excellent, indeed a tribute to two people who truly care about the sweet science called boxing.

Now that all the three aforementioned fights were done, Boss Shiva and Lagumbay are back home. As one of the many who is part and parcel of the websites Boss Shiva originated, and as an admirer of the writing talents of Lagumbay, may I be the first one on this site to welcome them home. Good job, Boss Shiva! Good job Salven! You made us all proud of your work. And, it was a pleasure to share some few moments with you in the US. We hope to see you back next year and do the same thing all over again.
