WBO light flyweight champion Donnie ?Ahas? Nietes is willing to undergo voluntary drug testing and has expressed his support for Nonito Donaire?s crusade to encourage boxers to enroll in testing for banned substances in every fight.

?Mabuhay si Nonito and I am proud to be with him in his quest for a drug free fight game.? Nietes stated in his message to philboxing.

Nietes is willing to undergo tests for his fight this Saturday March 2 at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City and all his fights thereafter.

Nietes will be defending his 108 lb division title against Mexican challenger and WBO 105 lb division champion Moises Fuentes.

Donaire, the reigning WBO super bantamweight champion, has been at the forefront in promoting random, year-round testing. Donaire?s insistence on drug testing has resulted in a war of words with his next opponent, WBA champion Guillermo Rigondeaux.

The staff of philboxing would also like to take the opportunity to encourage boxers to submit themselves to voluntary testing for performance enhancing drugs and for sanctioning bodies to reevaluate their testing schedules and procedures. We should not wait for another tragic event before we come to our senses.
