Denver ?The Excitement? Cuello is not relishing the fact that he has to play the waiting game when it comes to his rescheduled shot at WBC strawweight champion Xiong Zhao Zhong. The power puncher from Iloilo had some choice words for the reigning champion from China. In an e-mail message to philboxing, Cuello reacted to Zhong?s statement that he was not scared of fighting the Filipino mandatory challenger.
?If they are not scared, then why are they avoiding me?? Cuello said, ?I am supposed to be his next opponent, so how come they requested the WBC that they will make a choice defense? It was very clear that I would be fighting for the title after his fight with Martinez.?
?So why is he avoiding a fight with me again? And then he says that he is not afraid of me? He is lying. He should prove that he is a real champion and fight me now if he is really not scared. His manager is lying, he is also afraid of me. He knows that if they fight me, that will be the end of his boxer?s career.?
?If he is a real champion, he should prove it to the world by fighting me. Zhong should not just go around boasting. If he does not want to fight me now, I guarantee, he will not be able to avoid me the next time. It has been confirmed that I will be his next opponent.
May manager has talked to Don Jose Sulaiman. I will fight in Las Vegas on the undercard of his title defense, and we will sign contracts there. He should try to perform well and win so we will finally fight each other.?
Here is Cuello?s statement in Filpino, so nothing will be lost in translation:
?Hindi daw sila takot sa akin. Kong totoong hindi sila takot sa akin bakit puro sila iwas? Dapat ako na ang sunod nilang kalaban, eh bakit naki usap sila sa WBC na mag choice muna sila. Malinaw na usapan na dati na tapos nila lumaban versus Martinez ako na ang sunod na makalaban.?
?Bakit ngayon iwas na naman sila? Tapos sabihin nila na hindi sila takot sa akin? Mga sinungaling sila. Patuyan nila na tunay silang champion, labanan na nila ako ngayon kong totoo na hindi sila takot sa akin...pati yong manager nya (Liu Gang) sinungaling din. Isa yon na takot sa akin. Dahil alam nya na pag labanan nila ako, tapos ang career ng alaga nya.?
?Kong talagang champion sila patunayan nila sa mundo, labanan na nila ako ngayon din. Hindi puro sila yabang. Kung ayaw man nila ngayon sa akin, sinisigurado ko.,sa sunod na defensa nya ay hindi na sila makakawala sa akin.?
?Dahil comfirmado na na ako na ang sunod na kalaban nila. Dahil kausap na ng manager ko si Don Jose at may pirmahan na sila sa Las Vegas pag punta namin dun. Dahil co main event din ako sa laban ni Zhong sa April 13 sa Las Vegas. Kaya pag igihan nalang sana nila ang laban nya para manalo sya at kami na ang mag tutuos sa sunod na laban nya.?
