Petalcorin.
PABA light flyweight champion Randy ?Razor? Petalcorin (19W-1L, 14KO's) will defend his title against another Filipino, Rene Patilano (7W -1L-1D, 3 KO?s) at the Casino Filipino in Paranaque City. Jim Claude Manangquil, who co-manages Petalcorin along with Peter Maniatis, informed philboxing about this upcoming fight.
?I gave this fight to Randy so we could test him early as Patilano is no push over and prepared also very well for this fight.? Managnquil said, ? If Randy wins we are hopeful to go higher in the rankings of the WBA and maybe get a shot at WBA world 108 lb champ Kazuto Ioka of Japan or WBA interim champ Alberto Rossel of Peru or maybe go down to 105. Randy prepared very well for this fight.?
Petalcorin is rated no. 4 light flyweight contender in the WBA and no.7 in the WBO. Patilano had two recorded fights on boxrec last year, a split decision loss to Jay-R Estremos and a second round TKO win against Sherwin McDo Lungay.
Petalcorin fought last December and won by third round KO against Jovel Romasasa. Petalcorin has beaten Thai fighters Samartlek Chaiyonggym and Yodchingchai Sithkonapha. Petalcorin has scored fourteen straight wins since his only loss which happened in his sixth pro outing three years ago at the hands of another top local prospect, Marlon Tapales. Petalcroin vs. Patilano is set on February 16.
