HIDALGO, TEXAS--Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De la Hoya has informed that he has been impressed by the performance of Jimrex Jaca, and even went further by saying that the Filipino is a shoo-in as an undercard fighter for his May 5 showdown with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
"Jaca gave a tremendous performance out there. He showed to the fans that he is such a durable and talented young kid, and after Marquez moves up in weight, I'm sure nobody can beat Jaca in the featherweight division," said De la Hoya, who added that undefeated Rey 'Boom Boom' Bautista is also a big possibility on the May 5 card.
"I love Jimrex Jaca. He showed tremendous heart out there. And you know what? HBO loves him too. So we will continue to guide and help him," De la Hoya told this writer moments after the Marquez-Jaca fight, where the Filipino bloodied and gave a competitive fight to the Mexican champion.
"Obviously, up next for him is the holidays. But after that, we might give him a non-title fight, then let's look at May 5," De la Hoya stressed, even hinting that a possible fight with Oscar Larios is a big possibility.
