SINULOG BOXING AT THE I.T. PARK

CEBU- ?Prince? Albert Pagara of the ALA Gym will face Jilo Merlin in a ten round non-title bout at the IT Park, Lahug, Cebu City on January 20. This ?free to the public? offering is a continuing tradition of ALA Promotions during the Sinulog Festival celebration.

Pagara's last fight was in Maasin City last November where he stopped Tawanrung Eausampan of Thailand in two rounds. The unbeaten Pagara (14W-0L, 10 KO's) also headlined the Sinulog Festival boxing card last year and beat tough veteran Lowie Bantigue by third round knockout. Merlin (12W-14L-2D, 2 KO's) is a battle-scarred road warrior who has lost overseas fights in Thailand and Japan.

In another intriguing match-up, Philippine jr.flyweight champion Jerson Mancio is penned to face Gerpaul 'Captain Hook' Valero of the Flores Boxing Gym of Mandaue City in a ten round non-title match. Last October, Mancio (16W-3L-3D, 7 KO's) stopped Nikong Calamba in one round in a fight held at the Mandaue City Plaza Square.

Valero?s record of 13W (8 KO's) - 13L?3D is very deceptive. He has won 12 straight fights since being mentored by trainer Brix Flores. Valero also won the superflyweight category in the 2011 GMA Boxing reality series ?Buhay Boksingero?. His fight against Mancio is set at 112 lbs.

Jimmy Paypa will fight former PABA titlist Marvin Tampus in another ten rounder. Tampus lost to Pagara by unanimous decision last September in Balamban, Cebu. Also set to see action are Reymund Tabogon vs Abel Gayhun (8 rounds), Bryan Lobitania vs Jamjam Ungon (4 rounds), Rolando Servania vs Joyjoy Formenter (4 rounds), Ivor Lastrilla vs Takaoki Naoma of Japan (4 rounds) and Richard Barrios vs Jayvee Galia (4 rounds). Fight time is at 7 pm.
