Hollywood, CA: Steve Bash of Bash Boxing and his associates put up a tremendous fight card at the Florentine Gardens tonight oblivious of the Mayan threat that the world would end tonight, 12-21-12.
The main event featured an IBF/USBA light welterweight championship that involved Los Angeles native Cleotis Pendarvis (16-3-2, 5KO) versus Michael Clark (43-7-4,18KO) of Columbus Ohio (above photo).
The fight begun with each fighter feeling out each other early in the first round. They did not open up until late in the second, albeit they were both very amateurish and sloppy.
In the third round Clark all of a sudden went down on his knees after a seemingly hot exchange near a neutral corner. Clark motioned to the referee that he was thumb in the left eye and can not see.
The referee allowed the fight to continue and Clark was down again still blinking rapidly on his left eye.
Clark much to his credit went on to fight vigorously even landing some good shots on Pendarvis.
In the 5th round Clark was hit with a low blow and went down in pain. But after a couple of minutes he was ready to exchange again. In fact he finished the round on his feet.
Back in his corner, he had a conversation with his corner and the referee. A short time later, the ref waved off the fight allowing Pendarvis to keep his title.
With the win, Pendarvis up his record to 17-3-2, 6KO while Clark dropped to 43-8-1, 18KO.
